Health in Context with Real Life
Lasting body and mind transformations come from living your healthy values and choices in ways that work for you.
My name is Katie, and I'm excited to share my story with you.
Nutrition
I love being active, from summer swim team to strength training to boating on the weekends, and triathlons. Overall I felt like I ate healthy, but something always seemed to be missing. I continually felt discouraged and disconnected with my body. In the years following college, I gained weight, was the heaviest I've ever been, and felt sluggish - all while training for triathlons / half-marathons. What gives, right?!
Then, through the help of personal coaching with Precision Nutrition, I learned a secret - there is no magic diet, perfect number of reps, or ideal body. When I learned how to eat healthy (not restrictive) and live my healthy values and choices in ways that worked for me, I got results! And those results lasted!
Daily, I practice these healthy habits I've established. I've put aside all-or-nothing thinking and replaced it with a continuum of good enough. I use and enjoy my body to have adventures and to do fun stuff! I feel joy, happiness and creativity, rather than anxiety, fear, or restriction.
Strength
After having shoulder surgery in high school and being cleared from Physical Therapy, my dad took me to the gym. I quickly grew to enjoy "pumping iron." It made me feel strong and that, with hard work and time, I could tackle just about anything!
I've enjoyed the benefits of strength training during my triathlon endeavors. Having muscle balance, power and strength has paid off in big ways at all distances of racing - from 5ks to marathons and Half Ironman races.
The Technical Stuff
I am a Precision Nutrition Level 2 Coach (2018) and hold a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) licensed through the NSCA (2017).
